What is the Startup Kids Camp?
Your child gets to experience the highs, lows, love, and pressure that make up the ever changing world of business.
They will meet the most amazing friends and mentors, along the way building their very own business or social change movement.
A weekend and school holiday course targeted at kids aged 5 to 15.

Learning to have the mindset and skillset of an entrepreneur will be invaluable throughout students’ education and career, particularly as career opportunities change and STEM fields grow at a rapid pace.
The program features hands-on activities that inspire curiosity, creativity, and collaboration, while teaching students how to think entrepreneurially, identify and anticipate diverse societal needs, and create products and services that fill those needs. The program introduce students to the fundamentals of the entrepreneurial mindset and skillset and how the entrepreneurial process can bring new creations or solutions to life. Students will learn to embrace and reimagine failure as a learning process and become more confident and creative problem-solvers. They will learn new ways for effective brainstorming and how to apply design-thinking. They will conduct market research, and practice pitching, presenting and public-speaking.
The program directly and indirectly enables students to experience the critical skills and mindsets of an entrepreneur, helping kids to see themselves as tomorrow’s entrepreneurial leaders, regardless of what career path they choose!

Program details: can be delivered as a multi-week program during term time as an after school or enrichment class or over 3 days during school holidays; suitable for kids aged 5-15; no prior knowledge of the subject or experience needed.
Program content:
  • Introduction to entrepreneurship: The program introduce students to the fundamentals of the entrepreneurial mindset and skillset and how the entrepreneurial process can bring new creations or solutions to life.
  • Collaboration: Students learn about collaborative skills and are grouped in teams after a fun team-building exercise. They set goals for their business and for themselves in relation to what they want to learn, achieve and accomplish through the program.
  • Problem definition – define precisely what is needed: Students brainstorm global problems or focus on problems in identified themes; they are introduced to brainstorming techniques and utilize best global practices in defining the problem – that is, they understand how the problem manifests itself, the root causes, the impact and the aspects of it that can be realistically targeted.
  • Creating solutions – discover as many alternatives as possible: Students learn how to utilize creative thinking and idea generation techniques in generating solutions towards solving the problem.
  • Evaluation – determine the most effective solution: Students sort and sift ideas into categories; construct realistic possibilities with the ideas; select three or four different concepts for final evaluation and use criteria from the problem definition stage in comparing the alternatives and choosing the optimal solution
  •  Market research: Students work through a series of short, linked activities aimed at helping develop their understanding of the terms market and market research that serve as a platform for carrying out their own market research with a focus group and survey.
  • Design thinking and prototyping: Students learn how they can observe a problem, empathize with someone’s needs, and prototype a solution. Students explore the process of designing a prototype, receiving feedback, and improving their design.
  • Business models: Students develop an understanding of business models and analyzing / applying those models. They explore how business models make it possible for entrepreneurs to make money.
  • Financial plan: Students make a financial plan for investors utilizing basic templates – comprising 5-year projections of their sales, revenue, expenses, expected profit / loss and the investment needed for the proposed business solution to achieve its milestones.
  • Marketing and sales:  Students learn about the fundamentals of marketing in the 21st century where the best brands don’t sell to customers, they grow a fan base. In this session we will try to help students understand how they can seek to grow a community of people who are authentically engaged with the problem they are solving or the story they are telling. Students also learn about customer acquisition and sales plans.
  • Pitching / Public Speaking: We Introduce students to two of the most important background pieces to pitching: public speaking and persuasion. They learn elements of persuasive and public speaking. Students create and submit their own pitch videos and participate in a series of fun pitching activities including basic sales training.
  • Showcase Expo / Market day: Students pitch their business plan to a panel of Industry judges to win awards, prizes, giveaways and recognition. They can also choose to participate in our market day where they are given a platform to showcase their new product or service to the public.
