Startup Kids Market is a fun kid entrepreneur challenge where teams of 2-5 kids (age 7 – 18) create exciting products and services, build their own stands & raise money for themselves and a charity of their choice.
Kids that are interested in setting up a stall at the market submit an application form through our website providing details of their team and their product or service.
Once the kid entrepreneurs have been selected and paid the fees (we charge a small amount for space rental which varies according to locations and the entrepreneurial training received; payment details are emailed to selected participants), they receive a project planning workbook, a learning journal, access to our closed Facebook group and a super-cool T-shirt or Hoodie designed exclusively for our young champions.
Our goal is to deliver an inspirational journey for the kids and instill in them confidence, a sense of achievement, practical people skills and invaluable life lessons. We work them through the process of refining an idea, developing a vision, planning to make it happen and then delivering on a market day where people come and appreciate their creations. We encourage them to make it personal that is, to express themselves and tell unique stories through their products.
Students also participate in a pitching competition where they pitch their business to a panel of industry judges and win prizes. We focus on delivering a safe space where they can truly express themselves – something they might not get a chance to do at school – and show the world their greatness.
Kids are required to share their learning, reflections and stories with others in the Facebook group (short video clips, photos and posts) through different stages of their journey as they experience the magical journey of progressing from discovering a new idea to getting it to market in the form of a product or service that brings some unique value to the target customers. They are expected to participate in discussion forums and provide feedback to other community members as well. They receive a weekly video call with their allocated business mentor to check progress and are provided with access to learning resources, mentoring and community support as they prepare for the market day and beyond!
We strongly encourage parents to support their kids through this exciting journey because without their guidance and support this will not be possible.

The dates and locations for this year’s markets will be posted here by 28 February, 2019. We will start taking registration for the first market from 1 March, 2019.
